Classroom management refers to a variety of techniques that teachers use to keep students academically productive during class. Classroom management strategies, along with meaningful learning opportunities and strong teaching practices can minimize the behaviors that impede learning, while maximizing the behaviors that facilitate learning. Current and promising trends encourage classroom management techniques that focus less on "compliance" and more on building foundational interpersonal relationships to help improve student learning. Effective classroom management is the most critical piece in student engagement and thus student achievement.
